Keyamo: Ibom Air Passenger to Be Released This Week as Lifetime Ban Lifted
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Comfort Emmanson, the passenger involved in an unruly incident on an Ibom Air flight, will be released this week.
He confirmed that the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has agreed to lift the lifetime ban previously imposed on her.
BACKGROUND STORY:
Comfort Emmanson was involved in an unruly passenger incident on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025. She allegedly refused to switch off her phone, clashed with crew members, physically assaulted the purser and other staff, and tried to grab a fire extinguisher. Security personnel were also attacked before she was arrested and remanded in Kirikiri Prison.
The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) imposed a lifetime flight ban, while Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo condemned both her behaviour and the leaking of an indecent video of her during the incident.
