Mbah inaugurates 68 administrators to drive grassroots governance in Enugu

Governor Peter Mbah has inaugurated 68 development centre administrators, tasking them with the responsibility of delivering state projects and government policies directly to grassroots communities across Enugu State.

The Governor emphasised that the new administrators must prioritise grassroots governance to ensure that the administration’s development agenda is felt in every community. He specifically directed the officials to ensure effective communication of government initiatives to prevent a disconnect between the state government and the people.

The inauguration of the 68 development centre administrators is intended to decentralise the administration’s reach and strengthen the link between the state capital and rural dwellers.

Enhancing Policy Communication and Local Impact

Speaking during the event, Mbah noted that the success of his administration depends on how effectively these administrators can translate high-level policies into tangible benefits for local residents. He stated that the role requires a proactive approach to monitoring projects and reporting the specific needs of communities back to the state government.

The Governor highlighted that the administrators must act as conduits of information, ensuring that citizens are well-informed about available government services, including healthcare, infrastructure projects, and economic empowerment programmes. This approach aims to eliminate the information gap that often leaves rural communities unaware of the benefits available to them through state-led initiatives.

By strengthening the development centres, the Enugu State government seeks to create a more responsive governance model. These centres serve as the primary administrative units for local development, and the new appointees are expected to oversee the implementation of projects within their respective jurisdictions to ensure they meet required standards.

The move follows efforts by the Mbah administration to improve service delivery and accountability within the state. The Governor’s charge to the administrators reflects a commitment to ensuring that state resources are utilised effectively at the local level and that community feedback is incorporated into the state’s planning processes.

The newly inaugurated administrators are expected to commence their duties immediately, with a focus on assessing local infrastructure needs and establishing direct communication channels with community leaders.
