Governor Caleb Mutfwang has commenced the disbursement of ₦1.5 billion in financial support to victims of recent attacks across Plateau State.
The state government’s intervention is designed to provide economic relief to families who have suffered the loss of lives, property, and livelihoods during recent periods of insecurity. The funds are intended to help those affected by the violence to recover and begin the process of returning to normalcy.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Isaiaka Haruna expressed gratitude to the state leadership and Senator Tinubu for the assistance. He noted that the disbursement of the ₦1.5bn support fund has restored hope and provided families with a necessary opportunity to begin rebuilding their lives.
The distribution follows a series of security challenges in Plateau State that have resulted in the displacement of many residents from their ancestral homes. These attacks have frequently targeted farming communities, leading to significant disruptions in agricultural production, which serves as the primary economic mainstay for much of the region.
By providing this financial cushion, the Mutfwang administration aims to mitigate the long-term economic consequences of the violence. The government’s goal is to assist displaced persons in restoring their homes and replacing essential tools and livestock lost during the attacks.
The involvement of Senator Tinubu in the initiative reflects a coordinated effort between the state executive and legislative representatives to address the humanitarian crisis caused by the instability.
