Noor Health Limited has become the first Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) in Nigeria to return surplus funds to its enrollees.
The company, in partnership with Noor Takaful Insurance Limited, announced it will host a surplus distribution ceremony in Lagos to facilitate the process.
The move represents a departure from standard HMO operations in Nigeria, marking the first time a provider in the health sector has distributed excess funds back to the people covered under its plans.
The event, scheduled as the 2026 surplus distribution ceremony, aligns with the operational principles of Takaful, which focuses on mutual assistance and the sharing of surpluses among participants.
Further details regarding the specific amount of the surplus and the eligibility criteria for the benefiting enrollees are expected to be provided during the ceremony in Lagos.
