Shakira, Burna Boy Release Official 2026 FIFA World Cup Song
Global pop star Shakira and Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy have released “Dai Dai,” the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Shakira announced the release on her social media page on Friday, telling fans that the tournament excitement had officially begun.
“Dai Dai is here. The FIFA World Cup 2026 starts now,” she posted.
The song is now available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Music.
FIFA Confirms Song Release
FIFA also confirmed the release in a statement on its X handle.
The world football governing body said the song, released through Sony Music Latin, captures the energy, passion and global spirit expected at the 2026 World Cup.
FIFA said “Dai Dai” will serve as the official song of the tournament in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
The fund aims to raise $100 million by the end of the tournament. The money will support children’s access to quality education and football opportunities around the world.
Royalties to Support Education Fund
FIFA said royalties from the song will go to the Global Citizen Education Fund.
According to the organisation, Shakira will donate her royalties from the track to the fund, while Sony Music will match the first $250,000 raised with an additional donation.
The song carries a message of resilience, ambition and unity, themes often associated with the World Cup.
It also references several football icons and stars, including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Mohamed Salah and David Beckham.
Shakira Returns to World Cup Music
The release marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup stage.
She previously delivered “Waka Waka” for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and “La La La” for the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
Her new collaboration with Burna Boy adds another African voice to the global football stage.
Burna Boy Joins World Cup Music History
Burna Boy’s appearance on “Dai Dai” makes him one of the Nigerian artistes to feature on a FIFA World Cup song.
Davido was the first Nigerian artiste to appear on a World Cup soundtrack. He featured alongside Trinidad Cardona and Qatari singer Aisha on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Rema to Headline Opening Ceremony
FIFA also said Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles, United States, on June 12.
The 2026 World Cup will begin on June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
The tournament will be hosted across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
