Spotify Set to Increase Premium Price in Nigeria and Other Countries
Spotify users in Nigeria and several other regions will soon see a bump in their monthly subscription fees. The music streaming giant has announced plans to raise the price of its premium individual plan, with the changes set to take effect from September 2025.
According to a recent update published on Spotify’s official blog, the premium subscription cost will go up from €10.99 to €11.99 per month in selected markets.
This adjustment affects users across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region Nigeria included.
Subscribers in these countries will be notified by email before the new pricing kicks in. The company says the message will thank users for their loyalty and inform them that their new billing rate will start in September.
While any price increase can be frustrating for users, Spotify says the change is necessary to keep improving its services. “To continue innovating and offering a great user experience, we occasionally review and update our pricing,” the platform explained.
This latest move follows a broader trend in the tech and streaming world, where companies are revisiting subscription models amid rising operational costs and the constant push to enhance features.
For Nigerian users, the exact local pricing will depend on how Spotify adjusts the euro equivalent, but the message is clear, streaming your favorite music might soon cost a little more.
