US to Release New Passports Featuring Trump’s Face
The United States is set to issue a new limited-edition passport design featuring former President Donald Trump’s face on the inside cover, marking the country’s 250th anniversary of independence.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Department of State confirmed that the special edition passport would commemorate the United States’ independence from Britain. The passport will be available in limited quantities and is part of the broader “America250” initiative celebrating the nation’s historic milestone.
Design Features and Limited Release
A mockup of the new passport shared by the White House on X (formerly Twitter) features a blue-and-white image of Trump’s face, overlaid on the text of the Declaration of Independence. The design also incorporates the US flag and Trump’s signature in gold, adding a personal touch from the former president.
Another page in the passport will showcase a famous painting depicting the founding fathers signing the Declaration of Independence, further reinforcing the country’s historical narrative.
Tommy Pigott, a spokesperson for the State Department, said the passports would be issued in July as part of the America250 celebration, which also includes events such as a UFC fight at the White House and a Grand Prix street race.
Default Passport Design and Ongoing Trump Commemorations
This special passport will be the default design issued by the US passport agency in Washington, though the existing designs will remain available online and at other locations.
The release of the new passport follows a series of other commemorative efforts to honour Trump, including the approval of a 24-carat gold coin featuring his image for the 250th anniversary. Additionally, the Treasury Department is adding Trump’s signature to US dollar bills.
A Symbol of National Pride
White House spokesperson Olivia Wales described the new passport as a “patriotic design,” providing another way for Americans to join in celebrating the country’s 250th birthday. She emphasised that the design reflects Trump’s efforts to inspire national pride and patriotism during the celebrations of this historic event.
Enhanced Security and Imagery
The State Department also noted that while the new passport will feature customised artwork and enhanced imagery, it will retain all existing security features, ensuring it remains a secure and official document for American citizens.
This new passport design is just one of many ways the US is commemorating the 250th anniversary of its independence, highlighting Trump’s ongoing influence on national symbols and institutions.
