Mercedes-Benz Files Lawsuit Against Osimhen Over Alleged ₦142 Million Debt

German automaker Mercedes-Benz has filed a formal complaint with the Italian Carabinieri against Nigerian footballer Victor Osimhen for allegedly failing to complete payments on a leased vehicle.

Osimhen, one of the top strikers in world football, has excelled in various European leagues, including Belgium, France, Italy, and currently Turkey. His most notable achievements have come with Serie A’s Napoli and the Turkish Süper Lig’s Galatasaray, where he won league titles in both.

During his time at Napoli, Osimhen played a key role in securing the club’s first Scudetto in almost four decades, solidifying his legendary status in Naples. His success on the field helped him secure a lucrative move to Galatasaray, where he became the highest-paid player in Turkish football history.

Osimhen earns more than €20 million annually at Galatasaray, and this has contributed to his lavish lifestyle. Known for his philanthropic efforts, he frequently helps family, friends, and fans through social media. Recently, he sponsored a group of Nigerian fans to attend a match against Fenerbahce in Istanbul, where he scored in a 3-0 win.

However, despite his high earnings, recent reports indicate that Osimhen may be facing financial difficulties. According to Napolista, Mercedes-Benz has alerted Italian authorities about an outstanding debt. The company claims that Osimhen failed to complete the purchase of a vehicle leased in 2023 and has not returned the car. The total debt stands at €90,000 (around ₦142 million).

This news is surprising, considering that Osimhen’s weekly wages have significantly exceeded this amount since his title-winning season with Napoli.

Osimhen, who is known for his love of luxury cars and jewelry, recently showcased his collection, which includes two Lamborghinis, a Rolls-Royce, and a Mercedes-Benz — likely the vehicle involved in the dispute.

At present, Osimhen’s representatives have not released an official statement on the matter. The 27-year-old is expected to resolve the issue promptly to maintain his reputation and continue focusing on his football career in Turkey.
