Why Is the U.S. Still Supplying Weapons to Ukraine

In a move aimed at reinforcing Kyiv’s defences amid escalating Russian offensives, President Donald Trump declared on July 7, 2025, that the United States will resume and expand deliveries of “defensive weapons” to Ukraine.

The announcement, made at a White House press briefing, reverses a recent pause in U.S. arms shipments that had sown confusion among Ukrainian officials and raised concerns about their ability to withstand intensified Russian attacks. 

Decisions are based on both immediate battlefield needs and long-term strategic goals.
