Zimbabwean Startup AfriBlocks Joins Techstars Seattle Accelerator

AfriBlocks, a Zimbabwean freelancing platform, has been accepted into the Techstars Seattle accelerator programme, gaining access to mentorship, networks, and US$120,000 in funding.The pan-African freelancing marketplace that links users with remote working opportunities and manages the application, hiring, and payment process from start to finish.

Founded in 2020, AfriBlocks is a pan-African freelancing marketplace that connects users with remote working opportunities and manages the process of applying for, getting, and getting paid for work end-to-end.

It has been selected to take part in the 12th edition of the Techstars Seattle accelerator, which is part of the global Techstars network and has unicorns such as Remitly, Outreach and Zipline among its alumni.

Launched in 2020, AfriBlocks is a pan-African freelancing marketplace that links users with remote working opportunities and manages the application, hiring, and payment process from start to finish.

This is the  12th edition of the Techstars Seattle accelerator, which is part of the global Techstars network and has alumni including unicorns like Remitly, Outreach, and Zipline.

Techstars is a global network that links entrepreneurs and their teams with other entrepreneurs, experts, mentors, alumni, investors, community leaders, and corporate partners that can help their businesses expand.

AfriBlocks is one of nine startups from around the world participating in the initiative, which will be implemented through a combination of remote and in-person programming, depending on COVID-19 conditions.

The organiser said, “Marketplaces and commerce are a mainstay of Techstars Seattle, and this year we’re excited to welcome AfriBlocks, which makes African freelance talent accessible to the world”.
