Court Clears Fani-Kayode of Medical Forgery Charges
Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of the Ikeja Special Offences Court recently ruled in favor of Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, by discharging and acquitting him of charges related to medical forgery.
The case was brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The judge decided that the prosecution did not present enough evidence to establish a connection between Fani-Kayode and the alleged crimes.
The court found that the prosecution’s evidence was insufficient to require Fani-Kayode to defend himself. This ruling follows the EFCC’s charges on November 11, 2021, which included fabricating evidence and using false documents.
Despite calling seven witnesses during the trial, the EFCC could not substantiate their claims, leading to Fani-Kayode’s successful no-case submission in December 2024.
