How Iconic Nigerian Singer Onyeka Onwenu Died
Legendary Nigerian singer Onyeka Onwenu slumped on Tuesday night shortly after performing at a birthday ceremony in Lagos.
A family source said she had just finished performing at the birthday ceremony of a family friend, and immediately she returned to her seat, she slumped. She was rushed to a hospital in Victoria Island, where she died.
“Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the at the birthday of Mrs Stella Okoli of Emzor pharmaceuticals this night and after performing, she slumped. She was was taken to Reddington Hospital but couldn’t make it,” the source said.
Onyeka Onwenu, fondly called ‘Elegant Stallion’ was 72 years of old. She was a multi-talented individual, with her footprint cutting across acting, journalism and politics. Some of her most popular songs include “One Love”, “Iyogogo” and “Ekwe”.
