Interswitch Group is expanding its Discovery Series youth innovation programme to three more Nigerian universities, starting with Ekiti State University (EKSU) later this month.
The upcoming phase of the initiative is scheduled to kick off at EKSU from 28 to 30 October 2026. Following the Ekiti engagement, the programme will move to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and Lead City University.
This expansion of the Discovery Series aims to engage students in digital commerce and innovation, providing a platform for young talent to interact with industry leaders and address real-world challenges.
Fostering digital talent in Nigerian universities
By targeting institutions such as LAUTECH and EKSU, Interswitch is tapping into academic hubs known for producing engineering and technology graduates. These students are essential to the growth of the Nigerian fintech ecosystem, which continues to attract substantial interest and investment.
The programme focuses on bridging the gap between academic learning and the requirements of the modern digital economy. It provides students with exposure to the practical applications of digital payments and commerce, helping them prepare for careers in an increasingly automated and digital-first business environment. Through these interactions, students gain insights into how technology is applied to solve complex financial problems.
The initiative comes at a time when the Nigerian technology sector is seeing rapid evolution. As traditional banking and commerce transition to digital-first models, the demand for skilled developers, product managers, and digital strategists has grown. The presence of major players like Interswitch on university campuses helps demystify the tech industry for students, offering them a direct view of the various career paths available within the fintech space.
Interswitch, a leader in integrated payments and digital commerce, uses the Discovery Series to identify and nurture emerging talent. This effort aligns with the broader objective of building local capacity to drive the nation’s digital economy.
The scheduled visit to EKSU on 28 October will mark the start of this new phase, with the tour expected to continue through the other selected universities shortly after the Ekiti engagement concludes.
