The Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has launched the Lagos Clean Energy Schools Innovation Challenge (LCESIC) 2026. The initiative aims to promote clean-energy innovation, STEM education, creativity, and practical problem-solving among secondary school students across the state.
The launch event took place on Wednesday at the ASSBIFI Event Centre, located at Plot 5, ASSBIFI Road, in the Central Business District (C.B.D.). The programme is designed to engage the next generation of Nigerian engineers and scientists in the state’s transition towards sustainable energy solutions.
By involving students in the development of renewable energy concepts, the Lagos State Government intends to cultivate a workforce capable of addressing the country’s energy deficit through local technological advancements. The challenge focuses on the application of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) principles to real-world environmental and energy issues.
Fostering technical expertise through renewable energy competition
The Lagos Clean Energy Schools Innovation Challenge (LCESIC) 2026 encourages students to move beyond classroom theory and explore the practical applications of green technology.
