OAU Roof Collapse

Two among the sores of Obafemi Awolowo University (Ile-Ife) students whom an amphitheater ceiling fell on required critical medical attention now.

The roof dropped on the students while a lecture went on around the time rain and wind pounded the building on May 16.

According to reports, the two students sustained critical injuries following the roof collapse at Oduduwa Hall.

The varsity’s spokesman  Abiodun Olarewaju said,  “Vice-Chancellor (Prof) Adebayo Simeon Bamire led other principal officers to the Medical and Health Centre of the University. He ensured that the injured students got adequate medical attention.”

Bamire also followed the two students, whose cases demanded more medical attention, to the OAU Teaching Hospital Complex.  Its Chief Medical Director Professor John Okeniyi himself supervised the emergency room proceedings.

“The Vice-Chancellor has, therefore, appealed for calm and urged students and staff to go about their academic and administrative activities without any form of untoward action,” Olanrewaju said.
