ADC Will Be on the Ballot in 2027, David Mark Assures Members
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has moved to calm fears over its future ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party National Chairman, David Mark, has assured members that the ADC will appear on the ballot despite ongoing legal disputes threatening its leadership structure.
Speaking after a late-night briefing from the party’s legal team in Abuja, Mark dismissed concerns that court cases could derail the party’s participation.
“You have nothing to fear,” he told party members. “We will overcome these challenges and we will be on the ballot for every election.”
Legal Pressure but Strong Confidence
The reassurance comes at a time when the ADC is dealing with multiple legal battles over its leadership.
A recent Federal High Court ruling has added uncertainty, but the party has already responded. Its legal team has filed an appeal and is seeking a stay of execution to prevent any disruption to party activities.
Mark made it clear that the party is not backing down. He said the ADC will use every legal option available to protect its structure and position ahead of 2027.
“We are fully prepared,” he said. “We will follow the law and push through every obstacle.”
Why This Matters for 2027
In Nigeria’s electoral system, a party must have recognised leadership to function properly. Without that, it cannot organise primaries, submit candidate lists, or fully engage with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This is why the current legal battle is more than an internal issue. It directly affects the party’s ability to compete.
Mark’s statement is aimed at restoring confidence within the party. For members and supporters, the key concern is simple: will ADC be ready when elections begin?
His answer is yes.
Inside the Party’s Strategy
Sources within the party say the leadership is working on both legal and political fronts.
While lawyers handle the court cases, party officials are continuing preparations for the elections. This includes strengthening structures, mobilising members, and positioning the party as a serious contender.
The legal team has also briefed party leaders on possible outcomes and next steps, showing that the ADC is planning ahead rather than reacting.
A Test of Stability
Political parties in Nigeria often face internal disputes, but how they manage them can define their strength.
For the ADC, this moment is a test of leadership and organisation.
If the party resolves its legal issues quickly, it could enter the 2027 race stronger and more united. If not, delays could affect its readiness and credibility.
